2. The most important part first
The browser extension processes your chats exclusively on your own device. Neither chat contents nor images, names or excerpts are ever transmitted to us or to third parties – not even in the Pro version. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools.
3. Hosting of this website (server log files)
This website is hosted on a self-operated server in Germany; no external hosting provider is involved as a processor. When you visit, information transmitted by your browser is automatically recorded in server log files:
- Requested page (URL)
- Browser type and version (user agent)
- Operating system
- Referrer URL (previously visited page)
- IP address of the requesting device
- Date and time of access
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (technical provision and protection of the website). Server log files are deleted automatically after 14 days; the data is processed exclusively in Germany.
4. Purchasing the Pro license (Stripe)
The purchase is processed by Stripe as merchant of record (“Stripe Managed Payments”); your contracting party is the Stripe entity named during checkout. For the payment itself, Stripe is an independent data controller; Stripe’s privacy notices apply. Payment and billing data (e.g. payment method, billing address) remain with Stripe and are neither collected nor stored by us.
After a purchase, Stripe transmits the order number, the purchased product and your email address to our license server. From this, your license key is generated, stored and delivered to you by email. What we store: order number, product, email address, license key, and the timestamps of creation, delivery and any revocation (e.g. after a refund). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the purchase contract). A German mail provider is used as a processor for sending the email. This data is deleted 24 months after the purchase.
5. License confirmation by the extension
If a license key is entered (Pro version), the extension asks our license server
(license.walter.berlin) at most once a day whether the key is still
valid. The only thing transmitted is the license key itself – no chat contents,
no usage data, no device identifiers. The free version works entirely without a
network connection.
This request technically involves the data a web server classically processes: IP address, browser user agent, and date and time. These connection data are briefly stored in server log files as described in section 3 and deleted after 14 days. In addition, to prevent abuse (rate limiting), the license server stores a hash of the license key and IP address for at most one hour; the IP address itself is never stored there in plain text.
The license server does not count how often a key is checked, does not remember devices and keeps no usage history. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (ensuring contractual use of the purchased license) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for the technical log files (protection of the service).
6. Resending the license key
If you request your key to be resent via the website, the email address you enter is used solely to look up existing orders and deliver the key again. To prevent abuse, the number of requests per address is limited; the timestamps required for this are deleted after one hour. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
7. No cookies, no tracking
This website uses no cookies and no analytics or tracking tools. The extension itself contains no telemetry either: nothing in the data we hold reveals when or how often you use the product.
8. Your rights
You have the right at any time to:
- information about your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

9. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Friedrichstr. 219, 10969 Berlin, Germany.
